The Role You Will Play:
  • Assist/report to Senior Estimator/Pre-Construction Manager
  • Assist in developing the divisions strategy, vision and business planning
  • Establish and maintain relationships with existing and new clients
  • Assist in the preparing of proposals for new business and presentations to clients
  • Attend and participate in business meetings, industry events and conferences to promote firm in the markets served
  • Develop and maintain leads, review lead sources, participate and help guide the identification of pursuit targets
  • Prepare and analyze cost models during the Design Development and/or bidding period
  • Coordinate and assure that a preliminary construction schedule has been developed for each estimate
  • Produce progress estimates at design milestones, evaluate material and system costs, review document progress and coordination, build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Assure that the estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project
  • Participate and assist with the pre-construction strategy meeting on the approach to the project or estimate
  • Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with upper management
  • Create realistic and detailed schedules for all design, approval and estimating and purchasing activities
  • Provide clear scopes of work to all bidders and pre-qualify bidders
  • Create bid invitations, develop sub invite lists, post bid documents, addenda and reminders
  • Call/Follow up as needed to ensure proper subcontractor participation up to and on bid day
  • Complete detailed and accurate plan takeoffs for a variety of scopes
  • Prepare bid tabulation sheets and input data to qualify incoming bids
  • Act as document review and adviser for constructability and value analysis
  • Participate in the transition meeting between the project operations team and the pre-construction team and follow-up meetings
Background Profile:
  • Engineering, construction management or architectural degree required
  • Field construction experience (5-8 years)
  • Minimum 5 years Commercial GC estimating experience
  • Experience working in both Government and Private projects
  • Computer literacy: Excel, Work, Outlook, Blue Beam, Pipeline, Timberline, or Sage
  • Experience with both Design-Build and Hard Bid experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
  • Experience with estimating construction projects, quantitative take offs, bid processes assembling scope of work, and subcontractor scope review
  • Skills to analyze, plan, prepare, develop, document and finalize all facets included with pricing efforts
  • Strong contract negotiation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels
